So, what do you think about new theme? Lovely no?
Here’s a few tips on navigating this theme. I think, once you figure out where everything is, you’re going to find that this is MUCH easier to navigate and it gives you an opportunity to browse through the site much easier. Maybe you’ll even get to dig up some super old posts that you never even knew were there. (hint, dig bitches.)
At the very top of the screen, you’ll see two navigation bars. The smaller one has the pages listed. This is where you’ll find links that will take you to pages to submit your wrecks, buy shirts (hint, buy shirts, y’all), check out who has donated to the site, scroll through my blog roll, read about me and PC, contact us, or inquire about advertising (tons of space in this new theme for ads, you guys!). This is also where the RSS button is located.
The larger navigation bar is the categories bar. We’re tweaking the coding on this as we go, so expect this one to change juuuust a little bit. (I saw “we’re” tweaking the code, but that’s just code for Emily’s tweaking the code.)
Under that is the Featured Date Wrecks Sliiiide Show. Everybody now, “ooooh!” and, “ahhhh!” It’s pretty neat, right? To the right of the slide show is the newest post. Each little entry on this page gives you a tiny snippet of the blog post. I really liked this feature.
Ok. So below the slide show is another horizontal bar with four categories and a recent post from some selected categories. Some of these have thumbnail images, some don’t. Eventually, all of these posts will have thumbnail images.
Below that, you’ll see recent articles on the left and a nifty side bar doo-diddily thing that lets you mouse-over to read the recent comments and posts as well as the most commented posts and tags. (I never did tags before, I know, I know. Stupid. But I’m working on adding more tags as we go.)
Below the doo-diddily thing is a large space that is ripe for advertising.
So! If you find any dead links or weird error codes, email them to me at datewrecks@gmail.com — I think we should be pretty much set with the bare bones of this project, just ironing out a few details here and there.
Thanks to my sister for shelling out the dough to help with this theme purchase. I’d say she’s just a giver, and she IS, but really guys, this is my birthday present. So… enjoy it!
