About me and who I’m looking for

The typical:

I’m a easy going guy looking for a genuine woman that I can share my life with. I tend to enjoy most everything I do in life and have a vast assortment of interests. I need someone who has the same kind of outlook on life and is not afraid to meet new people and try new things.

A little bit about myself:

I once tossed a bowling ball off the tallest bridge in California, it sounded like a bomb when it hit the water… the 6 bowling pins that followed, not so much.

While going to college I had an assortment of random jobs including: Cook for In-N-Out Burger, Child Care Counselor for Drug Addicted Teens, Bartender, Fish Tank Technician.

My favorite job while going to college was as a newspaper delivery boy. I got to rock out to great music at 3am in rich neighborhoods while throwing things at houses. It was great.

I have met and have pictures of myself with David X Cohen and Robert Smigel.

My bucket list contains BASE jumping in a wingsuit.

I live on the shore of Folsom Lake and get to watch the moon rise over the lake. One of these nights I’m going to try drawing it.

I want to put together a coffee table book of black and white photos of oak trees.

What I’m looking for:

A woman who pushes my boundaries and gets me out of my comfort zone.

Someone who enjoys the outdoors – camping, snowboarding, jogging, boating, etc.

Someone who has a good family relationship.

Someone who can get goofy and cut loose but also knows how to be responsible and take care of business.

In My Own Words

for fun:

I enjoy live music, movies, snowboarding, camping, and hanging out with friends.

my job:

I’m a scientist that creates medical devices for Blood Banks and Hospitals. I save lives one drop of blood at a time.

my religion:

I grew up going to a non-denominational Christian church and currently attend on occasion.

my education:

9 Years of college across three different schools resulting in four degrees.

favorite hot spots:

San Francisco, Lake Tahoe, San Diego

favorite things:

TV shows – Futurama, Lost, The Office, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, The Daily Show, Mythbusters. Music – The Postal Service, Blue October, Dave Matthews, Depeche Mode, Modest Mouse, My Chemical Romance.

last read:

The hitchhiker’s guide to the galaxy

my pets:

I have a dog which is my refugee from a previous relationship. She is a mixed breed Chihuahua/Terrier and loves to go jogging and swimming with me. I also have a little bit of the ocean right in my living room.

So… What do you guys think? I feel like it’s a pretty solid profile. I will say this — since I have insight into this dude’s identity — I think your user name could scare some potential women away. But that’s just my opinion.

I think maybe we could do with only one picture of you and the fish tank, even if you love it a whole, whole lot. Otherwise, I like it.

Hey thanks for putting up the profile! Went ahead and changed my user name ( I actually had been considering doing this for a while ) and removed 2 of the fish tank photos. I’ll be putting up some different ones as well.

      *sigh*

Would that I were anywhere remotely close to his location, because I’d be on that in a heartbeat. Science geek, likes the outdoors, dog, fish-tank? As a fellow science-geek (who is also totally jealous that he got to meet David X Cohen), I’m definitely won over.

As for constructive criticism, since I can’t have him myself, I agree about the fish-tank pictures. Maybe a few taken outdoors, to highlight his more athletic side? As for the written part, I really can’t think of anything wanting. It makes me want to get to know him better, which is exactly what a profile like this should do, I think.

I have no idea what his user name was or is (if it should be obvious forgive me, i’m sick and stupid today)but it does seem like a good profile. can’t beat a smart guy who probably has a good sense of humor and at least not horrible taste in music.

if it were me, personally, in the about me section, I’d have half the factiods and expound on the ones i kept but that’s just me. I’m an over explainer of things. lol

Nice guy, nice clean profile. But if we’re going to get PICKY…

You’re looking for a genuine woman WITH WHOM you can share your life.

As someone who met her husband on-line, I felt like this profile reminded me so much of his! And it’s funny, since my husband is nothing really like this guy, except the geeky part, but he had a sense of humor that really shined in the profile. Also, a lot of self-proclaimed ‘geeky’ guys can’t really speak, and this guy seems like he can hold an interesting conversation without having to be led.

I also like that the description of the dog let’s you know that he has been in an actual relationship before, which included responsibilities, and which he took care of.

He seems like a nice guy – best of luck to him!

Wow, lareina’s post above is exactly what I was planning to say! If only I didn’t live on the other side of the country….

Since most everything’s been said already, I’ll chip in another note from the grammar police. If it’s alive, it’s “who”, not “that” or “which”. Two examples: “scientist who creates”; “dog who is a refugee”.

      Good luck!

i like it. you might want to come up with another word for assortment tho’, you used that a few times.

maybe you can be a little more specific about your “for fun” activities. i feel like you should be saying more about it. but hey, that’s just my opinion. wtf do i know.

      good luck, dude.

I really like that the “A little bit about myself” section had concrete examples of things, not generic descriptions. Gives a sense of who. More for a potential date to sink their teeth into. Not only that, but there’s actual things to ask you about. When I get a sense that I like a guy based on his profile, I try to find a couple of things in it to comment on or ask about when I e-mail, to get the conversation started. Not that anyone has ever responded to me.

Also, for the photos, I hope you kept the very last fishtank photo of the 3. It’s the only one of all your photos where your face is clear and well lit.

Thanks for the help. Nothing worse then stating you have 9 years of college then within 2 seconds looking like an idiot with a grammatical error. And yes I did keep picture #3 =).

The photo with the dog – I know it’s a trick of the camera, but it looks like he is holding a piglet. Not a problem with me (makes me want to know more), but it could deter a few women?
