She Likes Balls. I Don’t Blame Her.
Other Stuff — By Jami on November 26, 2009 at 3:07 amSomething completely different from my friend Adriana of www.lowercasesandcapitals.com. You may remember her from her super funny Date Report about The Zookeeper. I absolutely adore this girl and promised her I’d run this post for her to help out her crusade to coddle testicles… befriend balls… nuzzle the nuts… save the sandbags… you get my point.
So, if you’re a regular Date Wrecks reader, you’re probably a fan of balls. Am I right? Of course I am. I know ya’ll live faithfully by the KYITN credo. What if there were no nuts to kick? WHO WANTS A WORLD WITHOUT BALLS!? Not I. So I have been trying to raise funds to fight testicular cancer for “Movember”. Everyone wants to “save the ta-tas”, but no one gives a second thought to our dangly friends below. So, my challenge is this friends. Give me $1. There are many of you. If you each gave me a dollar…wow. That would be a lot of potential family jewels protection. I have raised $146 so far due to the generosity (and desire to shut me up) of my friends and family. I’d really like to hit $200. There are only a few more days left in November/Movember. Please help me kick the ass of cancer…and everyone else on my team.
Here’s how you can help me and a little background on who/what and why:
Movember is the month formerly known as November where men start clean shaven and commit to growing a Moustache for the entire month. That’s right, we are bringing back the Moustache to raise funds and awareness for men’s cancers – specifically prostate and testicular cancer. The funds raised go to the Prostate Cancer Foundation and the Lance Armstrong Foundation (LIVESTRONG).
What many people don’t know is that 1 in 6 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime and that testicular cancer is the most common cancer in men aged 18-35. Clearly I can’t grow a Moustache but facts like that have convinced me I should get involved and I am hoping that you will support me with a donation.
To make a donation, you can either:
•   Click this link http://us.movember.com/mospace/96521/ and donate online using your credit card or PayPal account , or
•   Write a check payable to ‘Movember Foundation’, referencing my Registration Number 96521 and mailing it to: Movember Foundation, PO Box 2726, Venice, CA 90294-2726
All donations are tax deductible to the extent permitted by law.
The Prostate Cancer Foundation will use the money raised by Movember to fund research to find better treatments and a cure for prostate cancer.
The Lance Armstrong Foundation will use the money raised by Movember to fund:
•   The LIVESTRONG Young Adult Alliance program which has the goal of improving survival rates and quality of life for young adults with cancer between the ages of 15 and 40.
•   Research initiatives to further understand the biology of adolescent and young adult cancers.
For more details on how the funds raised from previous campaigns have been used and the impact Movember is having please go to http://us.movemberfoundation.com/research-and-programs.
You will forever be considered a champion of testicles. A ball savior, if you will. Just $1. Pretty please?
xoxo,
