A Note From Jami

I just wanted to take a minute to thank you all for your patience over the last week. I know recycling old posts is such a lame thing to do, but I didn’t want to just leave you high and dry all week. The funeral was lovely, lots of time spent with family members — some of which I hadn’t seen in fifteen years or more. Some of them read the blog (Oh, lawd! Word travels quickly in the family!). *waves* Hello! To my deeply spiritual southern extended family!

Eeep.

Funniest thing that happened all weekend, well… It’s a tie: first, an uncle that I haven’t seen in about ten years came up to me on Friday right before I was set to do the eulogy, and said, “I didn’t recognize you last night at the viewing, otherwise I would have said hello. You sure have spread out since the last time I saw you.” I shit you not. I wasn’t sure if he was talking about my fat ass or the fact that I’m a single mother or what… I just looked at him, cocked my head and said, “Well, thank you.” AWKWARD! Also, my Papa reassured me that I was his favorite grandchild.

I really appreciated all the emails that I received from you guys expressing your condolences. It seems silly because, at the core, you guys are all just faceless names on the internet, but I really did feel supported and loved by you guys.

I appreciated it all very much.

Now I’m home, getting prepped to move into a new place this weekend and ready to flex my snark muscles for you. Can’t wait for you to see the post I’ve got for Monday morning.

Also, I’m still accepting submissions for He Said — She Said — You Said. If you’ve found a particularly scary wreck, please email it to me before Tuesday evening so that I can pick through the submissions and post the best of the worst because it’s your turn to do the dissecting. If you’re not in the know, well… First of all, figure out a way to get in the know. I’m on twitter, facebook, we’ve got our own ning page, etc… But HS-SS-YS is your chance to post your commentary, as much as you please, in the comments section. I will serve up to you a delicious wrecky morsel and you get your turn to chew it up and spit it out. The commenter with the most “thumbs up” by Friday evening will get a chance to participate on a future He Said — She Said with either the Personals Critic or myself. Miki did a bang up job last time, so she’s set the bar pretty high.

Anyway, all of this to say, I’m back in the saddle and feeling super inspired to get back to the wreckage. Hope you are too!
