My Self-Summary
I am what I want to be, and I’m redefining myself as life comes at me. Sometimes I’m lazy, sometimes I’m a workaholic. I can be emotional and I can be distant. Whatever these conflicting things are, they add up to me. No matter what, though, I want to be sure I’m enjoying life.
Also, I’m an unapologetic nerd, but a social one.
What I’m doing with my life
Enjoying it, trying things, meeting people.
I have this idea that I haven’t done enough in life and now I’m trying to make up for lost time. Every day I hope to find some new food I haven’t tried, a book I’ve never read, a new friend, or whatever.
Currently I’m a recent graduate from one of the [redacted]‘s fine Universities, and hopefully officially moving on to life after school. Before that, I’ve worked at theme parks, carpet cleaning, data entry, retail… And currently I’m an office assistant at a small business, which means I do just about everything short of manufacturing the product myself. It’s challenging but satisfying.
I’m really good at
At the moment I’m really into rock climbing, road biking, and mountain biking. I also like hiking, camping, skiing, cycling, airsoft, and racquetball.
My more intellectual pursuits are reading any book I can find, playing board games, and solving puzzles.
Oh, and I can tie a cherry stem into a knot with my tongue.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’d say my smile, I’m quick to laugh and smile when I’m having fun. (You can stop rolling your eyes now.) And I’m told I have sexy teeth.
And, this makes me sound self-absorbed, but my dreamy blue eyes. That probably comes after the smile though.
Also I’m dry, sarcastic, and sometimes anal.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Books… I like all books. If it’s good, I’ll read it, I don’t care what genre or topic it is. But I’ll list a few that mean the most to me. Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy defined my sense of humor when I was in high school. A Wild Sheep Chase, a rather obscure book, is probably the most powerful I’ve ever read. The Song of Ice and Fire series just, well, defies description.
Movies affect me in a similar way. A few that particularly touched me were Amélie, What’s Eating Gilbert Grape, and PI. Also, I’ve been a huge MST3k fan since I was little. If you do know what that is, then we may get along really well. If you don’t know what it is, basically it means I’m a huge nerd.
Food… I like sushi, but that’s kind of a given for the Bay Area. I’m turning myself into a bit of a coffee snob – I think Barefoot Coffee in Santa Clara has the best medium roasts in the world. I also have gathered up quite a liquor collection, and am teaching myself to make a lot of fun mixed drinks. The gimmicky girly ones are the most fun to show off at parties. Oh, and beer. Fat Tire and Spaten are my favorite “mass-market” brands, but my two absolute favorite beers are micro-brews in the Bay Area – and are therefore hard to find: Monk’s Brown Ale and Full Boar scotch ale.

Ever get this weird fantasy when you were a kid that you’re the only actual human and everyone else is a robot or alien, sent to monitor you? I still haven’t found proof that I’m wrong!

Now there are parts that I love – the Mario picture, COME ON! High-five! And parts that I don’t really like – stairs in your house? Maybe I’m a pervert, but I immediately thought that was probably code for some kind of covert sex move that I don’t know about… Maybe that’s just me. Heh. Also, I don’t WANT to like the picture with all the tits around your face… I mean, on principle. But if you were my friend, I probably would be the one TAKING this picture. So, I’m on the fence. Heh.
