I’m going to hire one of those old fashioned-radio voice kind of guys to sing a little Sunday Showcase jingle. I think that would be amazing. In fact — do any of you guys want to sign up for THAT?
Up today is a dude after my own heart — a writer! Working in a kitchen! I wish writers could make lots and lots of money. As it stands, only the super famous ones really ever do. Such a shame.
If you’re not familiar with the Sunday Showcase, read the rulez. Enjoy!

My Self-Summary
I guess I am who I am…a son, a brother, an uncle, a lover, a friend, a writer. What more is there to explain? That I was two classes away from graduating college with a degree in English and three minors (film, philosophy, creative writing) and was expelled? Well, I guess there’s that. That I work in a kitchen and have been doing so for the past 8 years? Well, I guess there’s that also. But does any of that shit really mean anything? Guess that’s the question you would have to ask yourself isn’t it?
I am creative, spontaneous, and intelligent
What I’m doing with my life
I am currently stuck in limbo…trying to figure out what the next chapter is going to be.
I’m really good at
Making people laugh. I’m shy at first but once I get to know you people tend to stick around.
I’ve been told I’m also an excellent writer, but I take praise at a grain of salt.
The first things people usually notice about me
My size. I’m 6’4″ and weigh 270 lbs. Next would probably be the tattoos.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Book: The Long Walk by Stephen King
As an English major I’ve read a lot in different genres. My favorite would have to be horror though. I’m a huge King fan, I’ve read all of his books except for the Dark Tower series. I’ve also read all of the Harry Potter books (and own the movies), the entire Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice, most of John Grisham and Michael Crichton, almost all of the Anita Blake series by Hamilton, and those damn Inheritance Cycle books by Christopher Paolini.Movie: Dark City
I own over 200 movies and only a few of them are comedy. For the most part I prefer a good drama. If it is comedy I tend to stick to dark comedy, like Rushmore. I’m also a bit of a sci-fi geek. As far as series go I own all of the Star Wars, Saw, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings (I even have a tat inspired by it), Blade, The Matrix, Riddick, Underworld, Predator, and Conan films.Music: Sevendust
I’m a metal head but I tend to listen to anything with the exception of country. I listen to NPR a lot for classical music and enjoy going to the opera. Every year I make sure to hit Mayhem Festival. An example of my style of music would be concerts I’ve been to. Dave Matthews, Tool, Slipknot, Citizen Cope, Sevendust, NIN, Rob Zombie, Godsmack…Food: Italian
My favorite food would have to be Italian but I love trying new things. I also enjoy sushi and Thai food.
The six things I could never do without
I’m not really that material. I have no problem getting lost for a few days without any possessions. In a more literal sense? My family and friends are really important to me.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The future. My life in general.
I also probably devote a large part of thinking towards death. Particularly what happens after you die. There was a philosopher that once said, “Imagine that perfect sleep that you never want to wake up from. That is what death is like.” I also think about the possibilities of past lives a lot. Sometimes I don’t feel like I belong in my own skin. Like I’m watching everything that happens from a third person perspective.
On a typical Friday night I am
At work. Once I get off I usually hit the bar or hang out with friends.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an open book. You can literally ask me anything. One most people wouldn’t guess? I’ve never had an orgasm during sex.
I’m looking for
Girls who like guys
Ages 21-35
Near me
Who are single
For new friends, long-term dating, short-term datingYou should message me if
You’re more the relationship type. I’m not a one night stand type of person. Also if you can handle someone that talks about movies…a lot. Someone who loves to argue but doesn’t like to get in fights. Someone who is rarely jealous but has some deep seeded trust issues. Someone who likes to be close but also have their own space when needed. That would be me.
Also, for some reason, I tell every person that I’ve been in a relationship with that if you see me writing, don’t bother me. I have yet to find someone who can actually accomplish that task.
I think it’s a great profile! Brief where it needs to be and more explanation where necessary.
If I were you, I’d toss the part about never orgasming from sex. It sounds like you’re a relationship guy and so I think it throws the cadence of your profile off a little bit. If it’s not something you’d toss out at a cocktail party for your girlfriend’s office, then it’s probably not something that belongs on OkCupid. Don’t fall for the “Most Private Thing I’m Willing To Admit” trap that OkCupid sets for you! You really don’t have to share anything all that monumental there.
The other thing I would lose would be the tattoo picture, even though I think the typewriter tattoo is awesome! If you’ve got a picture that shows you AND your tattoos, use that. Disembodied pictures without faces aren’t something that I like very much on online dating profiles.
